Welcome to a Bay Backpack Snackpack! These short and sweet blog posts highlight resources to support MWEE planning, implementation, and training.

Summer is a busy season for teacher professional development. If you are starting to plan a training opportunity, don’t forget about the MWEE training resources right here on Bay Backpack! Check out the following resources that are new since last summer.

MWEE Videos

Everyone likes a video! Ideally participants are outdoors, enjoying the summer weather during your training but sometimes you need a break to cool off, and powerpoints can help deliver background information and guide planning time. Why not sprinkle in some videos to break up the instruction and introduce or review a topic? Three new videos were created to support MWEE Trainings.

  • Start off with the MWEE Definition video to ensure everyone in the room has a basic understanding of the framework. This is also a great video to share with teachers to watch before the training begins, to get everyone on the same page with what a MWEE is.

  • Tee up a brainstorming session on local educators and organizations that could support MWEEs with the Partner educators enhance MWEEs video.

  • Address a common misconception about MWEEs and spark some ideas for local environmental issues by playing the Why do MWEEs focus on watersheds? video. Remember, MWEEs aren’t just about water!

MWEE Graphics

Speaking of powerpoints…spruce up your training resources with the below graphics.

Online Courses

Lastly, don’t forget that the MWEE 101 course is now on the North American Association for Environmental Education’s eePRO platform. eeLEARN MWEE 101 is still free and self-paced. Participants can follow instructions within the course to receive continuing education credits for Maryland and Pennsylvania, and a certificate for clock hours for other states. MWEE 201, which has participants complete their own Environmental Literacy Model, is still on Chesapeake Exploration.
