Bay Backpack

Bay Backpack was developed in coordination with The Chesapeake Bay Program’s Education Workgroup. The goal of the Education Workgroup is to have every student in the region graduate environmentally literate having participated in meaningful watershed educational experiences in elementary, middle, and high school that were supported by teachers who have received professional development in environmental education and schools that are models of environmental sustainability.

The Chesapeake Bay Program

Since 1983, the Chesapeake Bay Program has led and directed the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay. The Bay Program works with dozens of partners, including federal and state agencies, local governments, non-profit organizations and academic institutions. This partnership model has been recognized and emulated around the world and has served as the basis for landmark cooperative agreements, cutting-edge scientific research and unprecedented goals and deadlines for restoring the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem.
